The role advertised is part time IRO 16 hours per week.  Based primarily in the office of the Manx NFU at Quay House in Douglas, some parts of the working week may be carried out remotely.  All office equipment needed to carry out the role will be provided including a Laptop computer.

 

Overtime may be available on occasion (subject to prior agreement) to assist with the management and running of events and shows e.g. the agricultural shows.  Any overtime will be paid at the normal hourly rate.

 

This role would suit a person as a permanent employee or for an individual who is already self-employed providing a not too dissimilar service elsewhere. Further details can be discussed at the interview stage.

 

Minimum requirements for availability:

Flexible daytime working during the hours of 9-5 Monday to Friday (days of work are flexible and to be agreed subject to contract) with a requirement to work up to 2 evenings a month (normally the fourth Monday of every month + 1 other) to attend the Manx NFU Board meetings in a support role, normally between the hours of 7pm and 10 pm.

 

Job requirements;

  • Permanent membership secretary to the Manx NFU responsible for compiling a monthly list of paid memberships and keeping a spreadsheet for all up to date member details.
  • Generating new memberships.
  • Compiling basic petty cash and membership accounts on a spreadsheet to be reported monthly to the Treasurer and General Secretary.
  • Using social media and other online platforms to disseminate information and to promote the work of the Manx NFU.
  • Handling office tasks, such as filing, generating reports, presentations, setting up for meetings and reordering supplies.
  • Assisting with creating content for shows and presentations.
  • Occasionally attending meetings in person at various locations around the island in a support role. (travel costs to meetings will be reimbursed)
  • Basic understanding of GDPR is essential.
  • Providing real-time scheduling support by booking appointments and preventing conflicts.
  • Making travel arrangements, such as booking flights, cars, and making hotel and restaurant reservations.
  • Screening phone calls and routing callers to the appropriate person.
  • Taking minutes at meetings.
  • Greet and assist visitors.
  • Dress code is smart casual attire.
  • Maintain polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, and mail.
